Gavin Arno, senior scientist and researcher from the department of genetics at Moorfields Eye hospital joins us for this episode of the My Macular and Me podcast.

Gavin joins us to discuss the latest advances in genomics for inherited retinal disease. Our understanding of genetics and how DNA works has grown considerably in the last decade. This understanding has transformed researchers’ ability to carry out genetic analysis on individuals and has aided in the detection of defects and mutations behind various dystrophies. This level of genetic analysis may help to identify risk of retinal disease in patients and their family members, as well as identifying potential treatment options. Gavin talks more about the developments in genomics and why it's so important to our understanding of inherited retinal disease.
